BNI Helps Sterilize Settlements

Jakarta, 31 March 2020 --- Various efforts continue to be conducted by many parties to break the spread chain of corona virus disease (COVID-19), both by government, business world, and individuals. The type of assistances also varies. Not only maximizing self-protection with the help of medical devices, technology is now also being utilized. One of them is carried out by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, which is to fly drones to spray disinfectant.

“This step is part of BNI’s efforts to maximize the protection for community against potential transmission. Drones will be flown at 50 points of settlement area in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek),” said the Human Capital and Compliance Director of BNI, Bob Tyasika Ananta in Jakarta, Tuesday (31 March 2020).

BNI flies a DJI Agras T16 type drone that is capable of reaching up to 10,000 m² of spraying area in each location. The area of spraying is one of the widest in its class. Each time it is flown, the drone is capable of carrying 15-16 liters of disinfectant at speeds of up to 10 meters per second.

“The DJI Agras T16 drone has memory to remember the path it took. When the battery or liquid runs out and must be recharged, this drone can continue flying from the last point," Bob said.

One of Bekasi residents, Bawono Yadika, claimed to feel calmer after his home area was sterilized with drones from BNI. For him, the potential spread of the virus in housing cannot be underestimated. With this spraying, Bawono is calmer to work at home.

“Probably several residents must still have to travel outside their houses due to their works. We cannot assume that residential areas are completely sterile from virus. This spraying is enough to make me calm because BNI makes efforts to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in my home environment," said Bawono.

Previously, similar spraying was carried out at Grha BNI Building at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, which is the BNI head office, BNI Menara Pejompongan Building, Jakarta, and BNI Building in BSD, South Tangerang, Banten.

“This disinfectant spraying is one of the preventive steps we taken in preventing the spread of COVID-19 within BNI environment. Other step is to ask employees who experience symptoms of fever, runny nose, cough, and shortness of breath to see a doctor. We release them off-duty to check themselves, then work at home," said Bob.
