Digital Ecosystem Helps Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling

Jakarta, 20 November 2020 --- The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the order of human life, including the way of making transactions. To help break the chain of spreading the virus through cash, the government urges the public to use cashless (non-cash) payment methods.

In addition to debit and credit card products, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) already has an electronic money card or commonly known as TapCash as an alternative payment. People don't need to be customers to be able to use BNI TapCash.

That was the explanation of the Consumer Business Director of BNI, Corina Leyla Karnalies in Jakarta, Friday (20 November 2020).

Corina said that TapCash can be found at BNI partner retail stores such as Alfamart, Indomaret, Circle K, TapCash official stores in e-Commerce such as Shopee, Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Blibli, Dinomarket or in vending machines scattered in transportation areas. As of October 2020, BNI has issued nearly 8 million TapCash Cards throughout Indonesia.

"Various transactions, such as paying for public transportation, toll roads, parking, traveling, and shopping at mini markets and other merchants that have collaborated with BNI, can be done with TapCash. TapCash can replace the cash function so that transactions can be done more easily and safely,” said Corina.

In order to provide more convenience for its users, BNI continues to expand TapCash acceptance to all corners of the country such as Medan, Padang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Manado to Papua. The acceptance of TapCash in remote areas will facilitate the implementation of one of the health protocols, namely cashless payments at tourist sites.

Corina added, "Expansion of transaction acceptances must of course be balanced with expansion of top-up acceptances. Users can top up via BNI e-channels, e-Wallets such as LinkAja and Gopay, as well as e-Commerce such as Shopee, Bukalapak, and Blibli. In fact, TapCash can also be topped up via Jenius application."

“All these conveniences have succeeded in increasing TapCash's business, especially in the number of transactions. There were more than 3.5 million top up transactions up to October 2020, where this number increased by 19.7% year on year (yoy). In addition, the public can find out complete information about TapCash, including top-up acceptance, shopping, various designs, and various promo programs, which can be seen on the TapCash.id website," Corina concluded.
