PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, in collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), held a Community Run as part of the pre-event leading up to the main wondr ITB Ultra Marathon 2025. This event was held in the Car Free Day Sudirman area, Jakarta, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, with the aim of boosting public enthusiasm and expanding the social impact of the annual sporting event.
The flag-off process began at Grha BNI Sudirman and was attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, an ITB alumnus; the ITB Rector, Tatacipta Dirgantara; the ITB Alumni Association Chairman, Agustin Peranginangin; the BNI President Commissioner, Omar Sjawaldy Anwar; the BNI Vice President Commissioner, Tedi Bharata; the BNI President Director, Putrama Wahju Setyawan; the BNI Vice President Director, Alexandra Askandar; and the BNI Institutional Director, Eko Setyo Nugroho.
This event features two categories for leisurely running: a 2.8 km distance for runners with disabilities and a 7.7 km distance open to running communities and the general public. Approximately 100 participants took part, including ITB alumni, running communities, and strategic partners of BNI and ITB.
BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan stated that the Community Run is an effective means of raising public awareness about the wondr ITB Ultra Marathon 2025, which carries the theme Stronger Unity in Diversity.
"Besides fostering a spirit of togetherness thru sports, this event also serves as an important momentum for the ITB Sustainable Fund, a sustainable donation program used to support research and innovation, scholarship provision, human resource development, educational infrastructure, and enhancing ITB's global reputation," said Putrama.
Appreciation also came from the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung. He assessed that the wondr ITB Ultra Marathon reflects the long-standing synergy between BNI and ITB, which has been established since 1968.
For the wondr ITB Ultra Marathon itself, BNI has participated since the first time the running event began in 2017.
“I am very happy that this event is taking place. Without many people knowing, I am one of those who always follows the developments of this ultramarathon. Minimal, the collaboration between ITB and BNI, I initiated it at that time," Pramono revealed.
As part of the event series, BNI also presented a mock-up of the BNI ITB Co-Branding Alumni Debit Card, which was handed over directly by BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan to Pramono, witnessed by BNI President Commissioner Omar Sjawaldy Anwar.
With this series of activities, BNI and ITB hope that the wondr ITB Ultra Marathon 2025 will not only be a sporting event, but also a platform to strengthen togetherness, uphold sportsmanship, and bring tangible benefits to the wider community.
