Alwi Farhan Alhasny's brilliant performance in winning the 2026 Australian Open is clear evidence that the consistent process of athlete regeneration and development begins to show positive results. This achievement also reflects the effectiveness of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) coaching program, which receives ongoing support from PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI).
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that this achievement is a positive indicator of the ongoing regeneration of national badminton. This achievement not only reflects the quality of individual athletes but also demonstrates that a strong development ecosystem is capable of producing the next generation ready to compete on the global stage.
"BNI believes that great achievements are born from a consistent coaching process. Therefore, we continue to support PBSI in building a strong foundation for the emergence of a new generation of Indonesian champions. The achievements of these young athletes at the Australian Open are a positive sign that this process is on the right track," said Okki.
Alwi Farhan won the men's singles title at the Australian Open 2026 after defeating Dong Tian Yao (China) in straight games 21-13, 21-13 in the final. Alwi's impressive performance further confirmed his potential as a future asset for Indonesian badminton.
International Experience Level Forms Champion Mentality
Furthermore, the women's doubles pair Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma also provided optimism. Despite losing to Jia Yi Fan/Shu Xian Zhang (China), Ana/Trias still delivered a commendable performance, reaching the final of the Australian Open 2026.
On the other hand, Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah's struggles also deserve attention. Although he was stopped in the semifinals by China's Dong Tian Yao, the athlete, affectionately known as Ubed, achieved a significant milestone in his career by reaching the semifinals of a BWF Super 500 tournament for the first time.
According to Okki, the experience of competing in various international tournaments is an important aspect in developing a champion's mentality, increasing competitiveness, and accelerating the process of maturing athletes towards the world elite level.
"Every international match provides valuable lessons for young athletes. Frequent competition, experience under pressure, and the ability to adapt to the world's best opponents are essential for developing accomplished athletes capable of preserving Indonesia's tradition of badminton glory," he added.
BNI views the achievements of every young athlete not only as measured by the championship podium, but also by the process of character building, improving the quality of their game, and accumulating experience that will be valuable provisions in their future career journey.
"We see an increasing number of young Indonesian athletes competing at the international level, a crucial asset for the continued success of national badminton. BNI will continue to support structured and sustainable development efforts to ensure a strong regeneration process and the production of more accomplished athletes in the future," said Okki.
As a strategic partner of PBSI, BNI is committed to continuously supporting the development of the national badminton ecosystem, from youth coaching to strengthening achievements at the elite level. Through close and ongoing collaboration, BNI hopes to contribute to the development of more accomplished athletes who will bring honor to Indonesia on the global stage. This support is also expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as a major force in global badminton.
