TNI Joins Forces with BNI in Cashless Management

Jakarta, March 4, 2019 – The Indonesian Military (TNI) has joined in collaboration with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) to develop a cashless system for transferring salaries and performance allowances (Tunkin) to soldiers, as part of the government’s cashless society initiative.

TNI chief Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and BNI President Director Achmad Baiquni sealed the TNI-BNI collaboration on cashless Tunkin transfers by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday (March 4, 2019) at the TNI Cilangkap Headquarters in Jakarta.

"We want to educate our soldiers to be able to optimize the government’s welfare support so they can use it for more productive activities, rather than for consumption," said Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.

The BNI’s Baiquni explained that the state-owned lender would provide assistance to soldiers in managing their personal finances for the long term through facilities like savings accounts.

Baiquni added that the bank also offered a greater opportunity for soldiers to invest their Tunkin, which could used to fulfill the requirements or as collateral in applying for loans to purchase investment property.

“As an institution that has more than seven decades of experience in the financial sector, BNI has a variety of products and services that can ease financial management for TNI [personnel] while also providing banking services to meet the needs of all TNI personnel and civil servants,” he said.

BNI Life also offers a life insurance product specially designed for TNI personnel who take part in joint training operations such as the Rapid Response Strike Force (PPRC).

TNI personnel can also take advantage of the BNI’s many digital banking (e-banking) facilities, from SMS banking to internet banking and to mobile banking, and from phone banking to ATMs to easily purchase cellphone credits, electricity tokens, travel tickets and complete many other transactions.

BNI also offers the Supply Chain Financing (SCF), a financial solution for managing the TNI’s procurement budget and capital expenditures, as well as special Bank Guarantee promotions for its partner vendors.

“We provide all solutions to support the development of a financial management culture that is more transparent, effective, efficient and modern in the TNI ecosystem,” said Baiquni.
