BNI Officially Support National Badminton

Jakarta, 25 May 2021 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has officially become a supporter of the development and foster of a sport that is very popular in Indonesia and is often a source of achievement in the international world, namely badminton. Through this support, BNI is committed to helping ensure that the national badminton youth athlete development program will continue to run.

“We have great hopes to help advance the world of sport, where badminton is one of the most popular sports in Indonesia. “The struggles of badminton athletes at national and international events often become a source of encouragement for young athletes to take part in their achievements. At the same time, PP PBSI is indeed looking for partners who are willing to support the progress of national badminton," said BNI’s President Director, Royke Tumilaar in Jakarta, Tuesday (25 May 2021). 

Royke conveyed this after signing a Memorandum of Understanding between BNI and the Central Board of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PP PBSI). Also present on the occasion were the General Chairperson of the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna as well as the athletes and coaches of the badminton national team.

According to Royke, BNI was moved to play a bigger role and go even further in maintaining national badminton achievements through support for coaching programs for Indonesian badminton athletes. 
“We hope that title harvest and new achievements will continue to become a tradition, both in participating in national and international competitions. Together with this support, we hope that in the future, our badminton will be stronger and more respected by the strongest teams in the world. We hope that BNI support will be able to encourage the creation of athletes who have high resilience, are tenacious, strong, and diligent," he said.

Meanwhile, Agung Firman Sampurna emphasized that the main requirement in developing national badminton is collaboration with all parties. That's why the presence of BNI is very importa. "All financial resources that can support the success of badminton, including in the context of facing the 2021 Olympics," he said.

He also said that the signing of the MoU with BNI was an important historical record in the development of Indonesian badminton. The presence of BNI as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) has complemented the previous support provided by a national private company. This shows that in fact, badminton is not only a sport that makes Indonesia proud, but also has the potential to be developed into an industry in Indonesia. We are heading in that direction," said Agung Firman Sampurna.
