Encouraging MSME Ecosystems to Go Global, BNI Relies on KUR Allocation of Rp 36.5 Trillion

Jakarta, Monday (9/1/2023) -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI has the mandate to allocate People's Business Credit (KUR) worth Rp 36.5 trillion this year with a focus on the production sector in the form of support to form a Go Global Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem, most of which are acquired in clusters.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo disclosed, BNI as a state-owned bank seeks to encourage the MSME Go Global ecosystem by channeling loans in clusters. Moreover, this strategy has been effective in encouraging the acceleration of quality KUR distribution since 2017.

"Until the end of 2022, the cluster strategy was still consistently carried out by BNI and the results were massive and quality distribution. This year, we will continue to encourage KUR to be able to continue to help MSMEs upgrade while encouraging Go Global," said Okki.

Okki disclosed, BNI is currently focused on forming the Go Global MSME ecosystem through new clusters, one of which is financing taxis for agricultural equipment and machinery (alsintan), plantations, fisheries, markets, creative economy, and crafts.

BNI has also prepared various strategies to increase cluster absorption in supporting national food security by strengthening synergies with relevant stakeholders.

Okki added, the majority of KUR distribution in clusters at BNI is in the production sector, especially agriculture, as a form of encouraging national food security. BNI focuses on working on eight leading agricultural clusters in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of BUMN. In addition, BNI has also initiated the distribution of digitization of the KUR ecosystem in clusters.

According to Okki, this makes it easier for BNI to acquire business potential in a cluster which is not only credit but also Third Party Funds (DPK), transactions, and so on. From year to year, the portion of BNI's cluster distribution has increased with maintained quality.

"In the future, we expect the value of outstanding loans, public funds, and transactions to continue to increase, so that it is in line with the government's direction to strengthen and support MSME business clusters," he said.
