BNI and OJK Encourage Students to Financial Literacy

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) held financial education for students at Muhadi Setiabudi University, Brebes, Thursday (22/05).

Carrying the theme “Financially Literate Young Generation, Realizing a Prosperous Future in the Digital Age” (“Generasi Muda Melek Finansial, Wujudkan Masa Depan Sejahtera di Era Digital”), it presented experts and competent speakers from OJK, IDX and BNI, represented by BNI Institutional Director Eko Setyo Nugroho.

This activity not only focused on understanding the benefits and advantages of financial services, but also provided an understanding of the potential financial risks that may arise.
“This step is taken so that each student segment better understands bank products and services, knows the benefits and advantages as well as the financial risks that may arise,” said BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in a written statement.

This literacy program is also in line with the National Financial Smart Movement (GENCARKAN) initiated by OJK, which aims to increase synergy between stakeholders in forming a financially smart society.

According to Okki, students need to be equipped with the ability to recognize financial products that are legal and registered with OJK in order to avoid being trapped by illegal online loans and fraudulent investments which are now increasingly widespread. BNI provides solutions through products such as BNI Taplus Muda, a savings account specially designed for the younger generation to start planning their finances with the support of easy digital banking.

Furthermore, Okki emphasized the importance of young people's role in planning their future intelligently with good financial management.
“Recognize investment from an early age. The first step is to start with saving, then move up to the investment level, this will be useful for a prosperous future with financial planning as a provision for all of you to welcome a happy life,” he concluded.
BNI is also committed to protecting consumer rights and providing convenience in every transaction, while supporting government priorities in improving people's welfare through inclusive financial access.
