BNI and PBSI Strengthen Development of Young Athletes, Indonesia Open Becomes a Platform to Build a Champion's Mentality

The Indonesia Open 2026 is not only a prestigious world-class badminton event but also a crucial stage for the regeneration of national athletes. This Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 1000-level tournament provides a valuable opportunity for young Indonesian athletes to hone their skills, enrich their competitive experience, and develop a winning mentality when facing the world's best players.

This commitment is realized through ongoing collaboration between the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) to support the development and coaching of young Indonesian badminton talent. This support creates opportunities for potential athletes to develop and prepare themselves to continue the tradition of national badminton achievements at the global level.

One of the talents receiving this valuable opportunity is the men's doubles pair Devin Artha Wahyudi and Ali Faathir Rayhan. Their participation at the Indonesia Open 2026 is part of a long-term development process to strengthen the competitiveness of young Indonesian athletes at the international level.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the opportunity to compete in a tournament like the Indonesia Open is a crucial part of an athlete's journey to the highest level. He believes that the experience of facing elite world players will be invaluable in shaping the character, competitive mentality, and game quality of young Indonesian athletes.

"As a national bank that consistently supports the advancement of Indonesian sports, BNI believes that experience competing at the highest level is a crucial investment in developing world-class athletes. This opportunity will help young athletes build confidence, increase their international exposure, and strengthen their competitiveness on the global stage," said Okki.

Since being paired at the national training center, Devin/Faathir have shown promising progress. They won the Toyota Thailand International Challenge 2025 and the Odisha Masters 2025 in India. They also reached the semifinals of the 2025 Wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge I, the wondr by BNI Indonesia Masters II 2025, and the Astana International Challenge 2025 in Kazakhstan.

This series of achievements is a positive indicator that the development of young Indonesian athletes is on the right track. With continued support, these young athletes have a great opportunity to develop into a new force in Indonesian badminton in the future.

"Devin and Faathir's achievements demonstrate that Indonesia has no shortage of talent. What's needed is the opportunity to develop, adequate competitive experience, and consistent support from the entire sports ecosystem. We are optimistic that more and more young Indonesian athletes will be able to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and bring honor to the nation on the global stage," added Okki.

As a strategic partner of PBSI, BNI remains committed to supporting sustainable athlete development, from developing young talent to strengthening the national and international competition ecosystem. This support is part of BNI's contribution to developing superior human resources while preserving Indonesia's tradition of sporting excellence.

BNI believes that investing in developing young athletes is an investment in the nation's future. Through consistent support and strong collaboration with PBSI, BNI hopes to help produce the next generation of world champions who will bring Indonesia to continued success on the international badminton stage
