PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is strengthening digital transaction security education for corporate customers through a step-by-step guide titled PERIKSA. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the risks of cybercrime, particularly phishing, which is becoming increasingly prevalent amid the rise in digital transaction activity.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that this educational initiative is part of the company’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its customers, particularly users of the BNIdirect service.
“Phishing is an attempt to steal sensitive data such as user IDs, passwords, or PINs through fake messages or links that mimic official communications. The data obtained by the perpetrators is then used to access accounts and carry out transactions without the customer’s knowledge,” Okki said in a written statement.
He added that through the PERIKSA guide, BNI is not only providing a secure system but also promoting greater digital literacy among customers so they can be more vigilant when conducting transactions.
The PERIKSA Guide includes several preventive measures. First, make sure to use an official email address to avoid potential phishing or malware. Second, use unique and strong passwords with complex character combinations and update them regularly.
Further, customers are asked to keep their account information—such as their Company ID, user ID, and password—confidential. BNI also reminds customers of the importance of using personal devices and avoiding risky public Wi-Fi networks.
Regarding service access, customers are advised to visit the official BNIdirect website to avoid fake sites that mimic the appearance of banking services. If you need assistance, please contact the Service Action Team (SAT) through the official channels provided.
Finally, customers are asked to review the transaction details before authorizing the transaction to ensure there are no errors or potential misuse.
Okki emphasized that the security of digital transactions depends not only on the system but also on users’ awareness of the need to protect their data and financial activities.
“BNI encourages all customers to take an active role in ensuring the security of their transactions. By staying vigilant and using official channels, we can create a safe and trustworthy digital banking ecosystem,” he said.
BNI intends to continue strengthening its security systems and conduct ongoing education to address the increasingly complex evolution of cybercrime methods.
In conclusion, educational initiatives like PERIKSA play a vital role in fostering a culture of secure digital transactions, where collaboration between banks and customers is key to maintaining trust and ensuring the sustainability of the digital financial ecosystem.
