Expansion in the Japanese Market, BNI Collaborates with JRB to Facilitate Yen Loans to Ichii Industries Indonesia

Jakarta, 16 May 2022 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) continues to strengthen its role as Indonesia's global bank. Utilizing overseas branch offices as well as networks in Japan, BNI cooperates with the Japan Regional Bank (JRB), which on this occasion is The Iyo Bank, Ltd. and The Shoko Chukin Bank, Ltd. to provide working capital loan facility in Yen currency to PT Ichii Industries Indonesia. The signing of the credit agreement was carried out at BNI Sentra Bisnis Commercial Sudirman, Jakarta, Friday (13/5/2022).

BNI Treasury and International Director Henry Panjaitan said that BNI is trying to be proactive in carrying out its role as a development agent that facilitates the entry of investment into the country. Moreover, Japan is one of the partner countries with stronger direct investment flows to Indonesia during this year's economic recovery.

He continued that providing loans to Japanese companies is also a form of commitment from BNI to provide comprehensive banking services to Japanese customers, especially JRB customers who have long partnered with BNI.

Ichii Industries Indonesia is known as one of the local export-oriented companies from Japan which is engaged in automotive spare parts and partners with many leading automotive companies in Japan.
This credit scheme uses a guarantee pattern from JRB as a BNI partner in Japan. This Yen loan is made possible with the support from BNI Tokyo Branch, Japan, so that BNI can provide Yen financing facilities with competitive interest rate.

"Of course, we will continue to encourage collaborations like this to continue to accelerate the performance of international banking while facilitating more investment into Indonesia. BNI is also quite confident in exploring the Japanese market further, especially our partner JRB, who gives many referrals to customers who will do business in Indonesia to use BNI services through the Japan Desk scheme," said Henry.

Furthermore, he explained, BNI's collaboration with JRB includes providing banking services for Japanese investors who will invest in Indonesia, and also supporting exports for local companies in Indonesia that have cooperative relationships with investors from overseas, including Japan.

BNI also has a Japan Desk unit as a special unit that handles many Japanese companies that will invest in Indonesia as well as those already operating in Indonesia. The companies that have collaborated with BNI are scattered in industrial areas in Indonesia, including KIIC Industrial Estate, MM2100, Jababeka, EJIP, Suryacipta and so on.

"Most of these Japanese companies operate in Java, so we hope that they will spread to other industrial areas outside Java, such as Batam, Makassar, to support economic equality in Indonesia," he added.

As for BNI can provide various banking facilities to prospective customers from Japan, such as for their business relocation needs to Indonesia through the provision of credit, cash management, forex, letters of credit (L/C), and information about Indonesia's economic conditions, investment climate in Indonesia, and completion of business licenses in Indonesia.
