Increasing Village Investment, BNI Optimizes BUMDes

Jakarta, 20 May 2022 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) continues to proactively seek sources of local wisdom-based economic growth in order to encourage more stable economic growth from the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) segment.

Together with the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, UGM and Bumdes in the pentahelix collaboration framework, BNI contributes to the Local Wisdom-Based BUMDes Investment & Business Development project.

This program is packaged in the Launching of the Village Economic and Investment Gallery at Balkondes Wanurejo, Magelang, Thursday (19/5/2022). Present in person were Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Budi Arie Setiadi, Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture Hilmar Farid, and Regent of Magelang Zaenal Arifin.

From BNI, BNI Deputy President Director Adi Sulistyowati was present as the main guest to explain the potential for cooperation between BUMDes and BNI.

Adi Sulistyowati, who is familiarly called Susi, explained that this initiative is a transformational breakthrough in the development and improvement of the village economy.

According to her, through advances in technology and information, there are a lot of village activities that can be carried out digitally, starting from mentoring and fostering village businesses, selling MSME products virtually based on Metaverse, to Virtual Tourism Promotions.

"Of course we appreciate and fully support the economic development and investment initiatives for digital-based productive businesses through BUMDes, Balkondes, and the development of the Village Economy and Investment Gallery (GEID) which was initiated by the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. And we certainly hope that this can be a source of productive economic activity that is able to encourage an increase in living standards as well as enrich the economy based on Indonesian local wisdom," she said.

Susi continued that BNI is coming closer to its customers, through various integrated ecosystem-based financial solutions that make it easier for customers to access various digital transaction service features quickly, easily, safely, comfortably, anywhere and anytime.

The channel that BNI has is also very wide, consisting of more than 1,800 outlets, around 16,000 ATM networks, and the BNI Agen46 network of more than 158,000 agents spread throughout the country.

BNI is also present in every business ecosystem, starting from the government ecosystem, health, education, tourism, MSMEs, agriculture at the center, regions, to the rural level. These are all expected to meet the needs of society's financial services and solutions at large.

"We hope that all of these solutions can help the entire community and MSMEs to make it easier to access banking services starting from transfers, cardless cash withdrawals, e-wallet transactions and top ups, QRIS, opening digital accounts, and others. Especially people in rural areas," she said.

Susi also conveyed that BNI is also actively channeling financing to the public, both through the People's Business Credit (KUR) program credit scheme with a ceiling of Rp. 500 million, as well as commercial credit schemes that are in accordance with the needs and stages of MSME business development.

"We are also focused on encouraging MSMEs to advance to class. One of the main programs is BNI Xpora. Through Xpora, BNI raised 3 value propositions so that MSMEs would advance to class, namely Go Productive, Go Digital, and Go Global. BNI provides assistance to business matching to simultaneously increase the productivity, quality, and competitiveness of the local MSMEs," she added. (*)
