PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has reaffirmed its role in strengthening the foundation of the national economy by distributing People's Business Credit (KUR) worth IDR 4.6 trillion to more than 20,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) until the middle of this year.
This step is part of BNI's commitment to support the growth of the people's business sector, which has been recognized as the backbone of the Indonesian economy.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said, this achievement reflects BNI's consistency in reaching out to business people at various levels, especially the micro and small segments.
"We strive to expand the reach of inclusive financing while still prioritizing the principle of prudence. This is a tangible manifestation of BNI's commitment to be closer to MSME players," Okki said in a written statement.
The KUR allocation given by the government to BNI this year reached IDR 17 trillion. Until mid-year, BNI has realized around 27% of the total target. Despite facing challenges in its distribution, BNI remains optimistic that it can meet the target until the end of the year.
One of the challenges faced is reaching the new to bank segment, namely MSME players who have never accessed banking services before. To answer this challenge, BNI relies on the Laku Pandai Agent network as an extension of the hand in areas that have not been optimally reached by formal banking services.
BNI's KUR distribution remains focused on productive sectors such as trade, services, agriculture, industry and fisheries, which are considered to have a real impact on the local economy. This approach is in line with the government's direction to strengthen sectors that support national economic resilience.
BNI also implements a supply chain-based strategy (value chain) to encourage financing effectiveness. Besides, this state-owned bank actively targets leading MSMEs that have high growth potential in various regions of Indonesia.
"We do not only channel funds, but also build long-term relationships with customers. BNI is here as an operational partner that understands the needs of MSMEs and offers targeted financing solutions," Okki continued.
With the support of qualified digital infrastructure and adaptive distribution strategies, BNI is optimistic that it can realize the maximum KUR distribution target this year.
"We believe that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy. BNI will continue to be part of the solution, not only in terms of financing, but also in assisting their business growth," Okki concluded.
BNI's aggressive steps in encouraging MSME financing are a positive signal for the recovery and strengthening of the national economy, especially amid the ongoing challenges of global uncertainty.
