BNI Consumer Banking Director Corina Leyla Karnalies explained that the Wonder Multicurrency feature is a response to the increasing need for cross-border transactions among Indonesians, who are now increasingly active as global citizens.
"Many Indonesians now act as global citizens. Their activities span national borders, whether for tourism, education, religious services, sports events, international concerts, or even healthcare and beauty services overseas," said Corina.
This feature allows customers to store, exchange, and transact in 12 foreign currencies in real time through a single app. Transactions can be made in more than 32 countries using a multicurrency debit card that automatically adjusts to the local currency, with no administration fees for each foreign currency account. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 8.9 million overseas trips were reported this year, a considerable rise from 7.5 million in 2023. This figure illustrates substantial public mobility and reinforces the relevance of the Wonder multicurrency feature as a practical and strategic solution for managing exchange rate fluctuations and international transaction needs.
In addition to launching innovative products, BNI is also celebrating its 79th anniversary with various special programs. One such program is a promotion for opening a multicurrency Wondr account for new customers, who have the opportunity to receive cashback of up to IDR7.9 million by making transactions using their multicurrency debit card abroad and saving in various foreign currencies.
