PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI,'s efforts to promote financial inclusion and community economic empowerment have again received national recognition. BNI Consumer Banking Director Corina Leyla Karnalies received the Women in SDG's Action 2025 award for the SDG's No Poverty category, recognizing her contributions to expanding digital financial access and empowering low-income communities.
The award was presented at an event held at the Santika Slipi Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/11/2025). The award was given to Corina for her role in providing inclusive banking solutions for MSMEs and rural communities, and for encouraging the banking sector to become a catalyst for poverty alleviation.
Corina emphasized that BNI's commitment to the sustainability agenda is carried out through various community empowerment programs that encourage economic independence for families in various regions.
"This appreciation is an encouragement for us at BNI to continue providing financial solutions that have a positive impact on society, especially in strengthening financial inclusion at all levels," said Corina in a written statement.
He added that BNI is consistently accelerating the transformation of digital services to reach MSMEs, low-income communities, and groups underserved by the formal financial system. Service enhancements are being implemented through application development, microfinance, and digital ecosystems like Xpora, which help millions of MSMEs connect with international markets.
By September 2025, BNI's small-sector loans reached IDR74.2 trillion, while non-KUR MSME loans grew 13.9% year-on-year to IDR46.3 trillion. These achievements demonstrate BNI's ongoing commitment to strengthening the real sector and supporting national economic independence.
In addition to promoting financial access, BNI is also actively building an inclusive and equitable banking ecosystem. Corina explained that BNI continues to strengthen its progressive work environment, with a majority of female employees and a non-discriminatory work culture—a move that reflects more humanistic and sustainable leadership.
"Moving forward, BNI will continue to strengthen its role as a strategic partner for the government in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in efforts to reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable financial innovation," Corina added.
Through this award, BNI affirms its strategic position as a banking institution that is not only focused on business growth but also plays an active role in bringing about social change through economic empowerment of communities from all walks of life. BNI hopes this commitment will accelerate the formation of a more independent, inclusive, and competitive society.
