BNI Provides Trauma Healing for Child Flood Victims in Southeast Aceh

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, also participates in providing psychosocial support to children affected by the flash floods in Leuser Village, Southeast Aceh Regency. This effort underscores BNI's commitment to post-disaster recovery, which focuses not only on physical and logistical aid but also on mental recovery and the psychological well-being of vulnerable groups, particularly children.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the trauma healing services provided are part of the company's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) policy, which is oriented toward sustainable recovery. Together with the big family of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) through the BUMN Peduli 'One Heart for Sumatra' program under the coordination of Danantara, BNI provides psychosocial support for children affected by the disaster.

BNI believes that post-disaster recovery must be carried out comprehensively. Not only rebuilding physically, but also ensuring the mental health and psychosocial well-being of children, as the future generation, remains protected," said Okki in a written statement.

This trauma healing activity is one of the quick impacts of the BNI Berbagi program series held at the BUMN Desa Leuser Volunteer Post. By involving experienced facilitators in child accompaniment in disaster-affected areas, this activity is designed as a safe space for children to return to play, interact, and express their feelings positively.

Through play, art, and social interaction, children are gradually encouraged to reduce fear, channel emotions, and rebuild their post-disaster self-confidence. Various activities are carried out, ranging from simple group games and singing to song and movement, all aimed at creating a safe atmosphere and supporting the process of psychological recovery.

"The warm and empathetic interaction between volunteers and children is an important part of this accompaniment, so that the recovery process can proceed naturally and sustainably," added Okki.

The presence of SOE volunteers along with BNI Berbagi among the children of Leuser Village also conveys the message that the affected community is not alone in facing the difficult post-disaster situation. Children, as a vulnerable group, require special assistance to ensure complete recovery, both physically and psychosocially.

Moving forward, similar activities will be gradually expanded to other BNI posts in Southeast Aceh, North Aceh, and Aceh Tamiang, in line with BNI's commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable recovery for disaster-affected communities.

Through the BNI Berbagi program and the synergy of BUMN Peduli, BNI reaffirms its commitment to continue playing an active role in supporting post-disaster recovery, believing that the psychological well-being of children is an important foundation for building a more resilient society.
