BNI Strengthens Governance, Emphasizing Zero Tolerance for Fraud

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI emphasizes the implementation of the zero tolerance principle against all forms of fraud and corruption as part of strengthening corporate governance and protecting customers and public trust.

This commitment aligns with the strengthening of governance within state-owned enterprises under the coordination of Danantara. BNI implements comprehensive fraud management, from prevention and early detection to investigation and reporting to law enforcement authorities in accordance with applicable regulations.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that governance and integrity are the main foundations that the company has maintained for eight decades.

“For eight decades, BNI has been built on a foundation of trust. Therefore, strengthening governance and a culture of integrity is not merely a matter of regulatory compliance, but rather an integral part of the company’s identity,” Okki said in a written statement.

According to him, BNI does not tolerate fraud or corruption because such actions have the potential to harm the company and its customers, while also eroding public trust in the banking industry.

To strengthen its preventive measures, BNI continues to refine its internal control systems, oversight mechanisms, and business processes in accordance with the principle of prudence. The company also enhances its early detection capabilities by leveraging technology to identify potential irregularities more quickly.

“Guided by the spirit of Swadharma Bhakti Nagara, we are committed to upholding the trust placed in us by the public and the state by ensuring that every business process is conducted transparently, accountably, and free from fraud and corruption,” said Okki.

“Swadharma Bhakti Nagara” is the theme for BNI’s 80th anniversary celebration on July 5, 2026. This theme reflects the company’s commitment to continuing to provide the best service to the public and the nation.

BNI believes that the effectiveness of fraud prevention depends not only on systems and technology, but also on employee integrity and the consistent implementation of a culture of compliance at all levels of the organization.

By strengthening governance, oversight, and a culture of integrity, BNI strives to maintain customer trust while ensuring that its intermediary functions operate soundly and provide sustainable benefits to the national economy.
