BNI Brought Three Indonesian SMEs Break into the South Korean Market

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, brought three export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the Korea Import Expo 2026 in Seoul, South Korea. This participation is part of the company’s efforts to expand global market access for Indonesian businesses through the BNI Xpora program.

The exhibition, organized by the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), took place at COEX Hall B in Seoul from June 23–25, 2026. The event was attended by approximately 200 companies from more than 30 countries, with a target of attracting more than 10,000 buyers and trade professionals.

The three SMEs represented by BNI are PT Alko Sumatra Kopi, PT AK Goldenesia, and PT Awan Crackers Food Indonesia. All three showcased their flagship products at the Indonesia Pavilion and participated in business meetings with a number of South Korean companies.

BNI Commercial Banking Director, Muhammad Iqbal, said that this participation reflects the company’s commitment to supporting national businesses as they enter international markets. BNI’s support was not limited to providing market access but also included financing, transaction services, business consulting, and an international network.

“BNI Xpora serves as a strategic partner for Indonesian businesses looking to expand into international markets. We not only help connect exporters with global buyers, but also provide financing support, international transaction solutions, business advisory services, and access to the networks needed to enhance their competitiveness and business sustainability,” said Iqbal in a written statement.

At the exhibition, participants took part in business matching sessions with a number of South Korean companies, including Sajo Foodist, Neple Co., Nokchawon, Hermos Co., Ltd., GS Global, and Hurum Co., Ltd.

The business meeting was aimed at opening up new export opportunities, exploring distribution partnerships, and expanding the market penetration of Indonesian products in South Korea.

The participation of Indonesian SMEs in the Korea Import Expo 2026 was made possible through collaboration between the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Seoul, the Ministry of Trade through the Trade Attaché in Seoul, the BNI Overseas Branch in Seoul, and BNI Xpora.

According to Iqbal, market access remains one of the main challenges for Indonesian businesses seeking to expand overseas. These obstacles are not only related to finding buyers, but also to product readiness, distribution networks, financing, and an understanding of international trade transactions.

As a result, BNI Xpora continues to expand its collaborations with the government, Indonesian diplomatic missions abroad, business associations, and international partners to connect Indonesian exporters with potential buyers in various countries.

This support is further strengthened through BNI’s international network, including the BNI Seoul Overseas Branch. Through this network, exporters can access international trade transaction services and manage their transactions digitally via BNIdirect.

“BNI Xpora is designed to help Indonesian businesses scale up through three main pillars: Go Productive, Go Digital, and Go Global. This support is provided through financing, mentoring, business matching, and access to international markets,” said Iqbal.

He added that BNI’s participation in international exhibitions also embodies the spirit of Swadharma Bhakti Nagara, which has shaped the company’s journey over the past eight decades. This spirit is manifested by strengthening BNI’s role as a partner in business growth and a supporter of the expansion of domestic products.

Through its participation in the Korea Import Expo 2026, BNI hopes that more Indonesian businesses will have the opportunity to build networks, increase export transactions, and expand product distribution in global markets. This initiative is also expected to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs and contribute to export growth and the national economy.
