PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has distributed humanitarian aid to communities affected by forest and land fires in several areas of Central Kalimantan. Provided through the "BNI Berbagi" program, the assistance aims to support on-the-ground response efforts while helping to meet the needs of the affected residents.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that BNI is coordinating with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and relevant stakeholders to ensure that aid is distributed according to the needs of each region.
"We are concerned about the situation facing the community due to forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan. BNI is striving to provide the necessary support, both to assist with on-the-ground response efforts and to meet the basic needs of affected residents," said Okki in a written statement.
To date, the BNI Berbagi aid program has reached 10 regions in Central Kalimantan: East Kotawaringin, West Kotawaringin, Pulang Pisau, North Barito, Palangka Raya, Murung Raya, Gunung Mas, Katingan, South Barito, and Kapuas.
BNI distributed a number of equipment to support handling forest and land fires through the local BPBD, including water pumps, boots and head torches.
In addition, the aid for the communities includes N95 masks, bottled water, vitamins, milk, and oxygen cylinders, as well as food supplies such as instant noodles and caned sardines.
This support is expected to assist personnel and volunteers in managing and controlling forest and land fires, while also helping the communities cope with the disaster's impact and meet their needs during the emergency.
"This aid reflects BNI's concern for the communities and serves as support for personnel and volunteers in the field. We will continue to coordinate with the BPBD and relevant parties to adjust our support as needs evolve," said Okki.
