BNI Moves Quickly to Distribute Aid to Flood-Affected Residents in Padang

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is moving quickly to provide aid to communities affected by flooding in several areas of Padang, West Sumatra, through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) program, “BNI Berbagi.”

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the aid was distributed in accordance with the communities' needs, based on information from the Regional Secretary and the Executive Director of the Padang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

"BNI expresses its concern for the situation faced by the community affected by the floods in Padang. We are striving to provide support tailored to the residents' needs, while maintaining coordination with the local government and relevant parties to ensure that the aid can be utilized effectively," said Okki in a written statement.

According to preliminary information, 672 residents have been evacuated to three locations in Kuranji Sub-Regency. Meanwhile, approximately 459 households have been affected by flooding in Koto Tangah Sub-Regency, including the villages of Koto Panjang, Ikua Koto, and Lubuk Minturun.

Some of the affected residents have taken shelter in a mosque, while others are staying temporarily with family members or relatives.

To help meet the communities’ basic needs, BNI distributed bottled water, blankets, instant noodles, rice, cooking oil, and eggs. The aid also included 400 packages of ready-to-eat rice and a 8,000-liter tank of clean water to support bathing, laundry, and sanitation needs.

According to Okki, BNI will continue to monitor the situation in coordination with local governments and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to identify the ongoing needs of the affected communities.

“The communities’ needs may evolve as circumstances change. Therefore, we will continue to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure that the support provided meets those needs and helps ease the burden on residents during the emergency response period,” said Okki.

Through its CSER program, “BNI Berbagi”, BNI continues to play a role in disaster response efforts by distributing aid tailored to the needs of affected communities.

As a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem, BNI continues to fulfill its social role by remaining present among the public—including during emergencies and disasters—as part of the company’s contribution to society and national development.
