BNI prepares BNI Griya Special housing mortgage for teachers

Jakarta, Feb. 8, 2019 - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is a housing loans channeling bank. It has prepared the BNI Griya Special housing mortgage for teachers, educators and employees of the Education and Culture Ministry. BNI Griya Special helps teachers and other recipients in this group to finance their dream homes. The special loans support the faster realization of the government’s Home for Teachers Program.

The distribution of the BNI Griya Special began after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BNI and the executive board of the Indonesian Teachers Union (PGRI) in Jakarta on Feb. 8. The signing of the MoU was carried out by BNI Retail Banking director Tambok P. Setyawati and general chair of the executive board of PGRI Unifah Rosyidi. Present at the event was the director general of teachers and education personnel at the Education and Culture Ministry, Supriano.

According to Tambok, with BNI Griya Special for teachers, BNI provides various waivers, namely advance payments starting at zero percent. It also offers a special interest and free of provision charge as well as free administration fees. The interest rates given range from 6.9 percent fixed for one year to 7.75 percent fixed for five years, with a credit period ranging from seven to 30 years.

The availability of the BNI Griya Special product is one of BNI's efforts to realize the mandate of Law No. 14/2005 on teachers and lecturers. As stated in the law, teachers have the right to earn income above the minimum living cost and are also entitled to social welfare insurance. One of the government's goals in creating the social welfare plan is to provide housing for teachers.

In addition to the BNI Griya Special mortgage, teachers and educators can also obtain housing through the FLPP Subsidized Mortgage program, with an interest rate of 5 percent for a maximum credit period of 20 years. The fund limit of the FLPP Subsidized Mortgage is lower than the limit available in BNI Griya Special, because there is a government-set limit on the selling price of subsidized houses.

BNI Griya itself is a credit facility from BNI that can be used for the purpose of purchasing, building, renovating, topping up, refinancing or taking over properties in the form of residences, villas, apartments, condominiums, shop houses and office houses. The allocated amount in the credit facility is flexible as it depends on the financing needs and the ability of each applicant to repay the credit. In addition, BNI also offers BNI Griya Multiguna (multipurpose), namely credit facilities provided to debtors for any purpose. The credit can be obtained by making the land or a house where the debtor resides the warranty.
