BNI Overseas Branch Urges Customers Making Online Transactions

Jakarta, 24 March 2020 --- As a bank that has an optimal network of overseas branches, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) Branch Offices in Tokyo and Hong Kong continue to operate normally. In the midst of Corona virus (COVID-19) worldwide pandemic, BNI has proven committed to providing the best service for its customers even abroad.

The General Manager of BNI Tokyo, Emil Azhary said, in accordance with directions from the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA), BNI Tokyo continues to operate fully. To protect employees from virus contracting risk, BNI Tokyo has prepared masks, hand sanitizers, forbids sick employees from coming to work, and arranges work shifts so as to avoid rush hours from public vehicle operations.

"From a business perspective, we encourage customers to conduct remittance transactions using remittance card services. Customers do not need to rely on branch services and can use JP Pos ATM services, which are safe, comfortable and the numbers are spread evenly throughout Japan, and can also avoid customers leaving the house too far which has the potential to increase exposure to Corona virus," Emil said.

Emil added, the rate provided is also very attractive at ¥ 1000 per remittance with no additional fees. Besides being able to generate fee-based income from every transaction that occurs, it is also expected to help increase the country's foreign exchange from receiving remittances from abroad, especially in the midst of economic conditions affected by the Corona virus.

In line with BNI Tokyo, BNI Hong Kong has also applied preventive measures to its branch operation. The General Manager of BNI Hong Kong, Wan Andi Aryadi said that BNI has made Split Operation by dividing employees into 2 teams. Team A and Team B work in separate rooms and do not interact directly with one another. Split Operation certainly does not reduce the quality of BNI Hong Kong services.

"Before this outbreak struck, as the only Indonesian bank holding a Full License in Hong Kong, BNI had socialized the use of BNI Mobile Banking, especially for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). With the implementation of Social Distancing, of course the use of BNI Mobile Banking can be a mainstay for customers not only in Indonesia, but also in Hong Kong in this situation. However, if customers still need services at the branch office, BNI Hong Kong is still ready to serve," said Andi.
