BNI’s Measures In Protecting Community

Jakarta, 25 March 2020 --- In the corona virus pandemic (COVID-19), self-protection is very important. The community needs to improve self-sanitation and the environment as well as immunity against the threat of disease.

However, stocks of goods that are protective against virus are hard to find and the prices soar. Seeing this situation, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is committed to helping protect the community through aid distribution.

The Corporate Secretary of BNI, Meiliana in Jakarta, Wednesday, 25 March 2020, said, BNI strives to provide maximum and comprehensive assistance to various elements of society. BNI pays special attention to medical workers in hospitals and members of the Indonesian Red Cross by providing masks, hand sanitizers, gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

BNI has prepared a total of 800 liters of hand sanitizers, 5,000 medical gloves, 200,000 medical masks, 3 ambulances, and 5,000 PPE to be distributed to medical personnel at corona referral hospitals throughout Indonesia. Some have been distributed to several hospitals. As officers at the forefront of COVID-19 handling, they are very deserving of more protection.

"BNI has also prepared 30 disinfectant booths that will be used in places visited by many people, such as hospitals and markets. It is hoped that these booths can be a means to reduce the spread of COVID-19," Meiliana said.

To carry out extensive sterilization, BNI will fly drones that spray the World Health Organization (WHO) standard disinfectant. The drones will be flown in 50 points of residential areas in Jabodetabek. The range of the drone reaches 10,000 m² at each point.

Support the Call to Stay at Home

Meiliana added, to support government’s call to as far as possible stay at home, BNI collaborates with Ruangguru to facilitate students to learn from home. BNI prepares Taplus Muda savings for 200 selected students who actively participate in the "Ruangguru" Free Online School program. Students who are selected will receive a Taplus Muda savings in a total of Rp 200,000,000.

BNI also provides PPE and multivitamin to be distributed to public to people in areas where extraordinary events occur (KLB).

Attention to BNI Employees

"Of course, BNI also pays attention to the health of its employees, especially those who continue to work to serve customers and carry out BNI's overall operations. Not only hand sanitizers and masks, vaccinations and vitamin C are also provided for employees," Meiliana said.

Until now, BNI has realized a total of Rp. 10.6 billion in assistance. BNI immediately increased the aid budget according to current needs. This aid is a form of support for the SOEs Overcoming Corona program as an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19.
