Reducing Covid-19 impact, BNI as the Bank for Diaspora Donation Fund Distributor

Jakarta, 18 May 2020 --- Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower as of 1 May 2020, there are around 3 million workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This number consists of formal and informal sector workers.

Seeing this, the founder of Diaspora Indonesia, Dino Patti Djalal together with the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, initiated to raise donations from Diaspora Indonesian to be distributed to workers who have lost their livelihoods.

Based on data from 167 Indonesian Foreign Representative offices, the number of Diaspora residents is estimated at 4.7 to 8 million. Diaspora donations are set at $ 50, can be given for 3 months to 1 year, and distributed to recipients on a monthly basis.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) was appointed as a banking partner for the Diaspora Peduli Program through the provision of a Virtual Account and account opening for donors. The launching of Diaspora Care was attended by the Founder of Diaspora Indonesia, Dino Patti Djalal, the Indonesian Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, the Director of Institutional Relations of BNI, Sis Apik Wijayanto, and the President of IDN Global, Said Zaidansyah in Jakarta, Monday (18 May 2020).

Sis Apik Wijayanto said that this collaboration proofs that BNI Cash Management service again trusted to develop important tasks. On the last occasion, BNI played an important role in transactions carried out by athletes and officials from  Asian Games 2018as well as  IMF Annual Meeting 2018 delegates through Virtual Account facility.

"In order to help fight this virus pandemic, BNI is trusted to be the bank that manages the "Diaspora Peduli" Donation Account through BNI Direct and Virtual Account application. This collaboration is expected to improve services for BNI customers," Sis said.
