Facilitating Non-Cash Payment in New Normal, BNI Collaborates with Gopay for TapCash Top-up

Jakarta, 29 June 2020 --- The current condition of the business world which is very dynamic and constantly changing has made relations between business entities become interdependent, so that the market is no longer penetrated by competition, but by a mutually beneficial bond of collaboration. Likewise, which is also conducted by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI with PT Dompet Anak Bangsa (GoPay).

The two companies from different industries work together by uniting their own electronic transaction facilities, namely electronic money from BNI or TapCash Card with GoPay from transportation network provider company, Gojek. Through this collaboration, TapCash Card users can top up through GoPay accompanied by a balance update process afterwards.

That was explained by BNI’s Consumer Business Director, Corina Leyla Karnalies at a press conference held in Jakarta, Monday (29 June 2020). Also present at the occasion was the Managing Director of GoPay, Budi Gandasoebrata.

“As we know, the users of Gojek Application are spread all over Indonesia. So, it is probable that TapCash users also have Gojek Application on their smartphones. Therefore, BNI wants to make it easier for TapCash users to top up. The users only need to open Gojek Application, select GoBills feature, and then select electronic money top up menu, then select TapCash. After the top up is succeed, the user can immediately update the balance on Gojek Application. Make sure the smartphone has the Near-Field Communication (NFC) feature," Corina said.

"In facing this New Normal era, government encourages people to continue on making non-cash transactions. People don't need to worry if their TapCash balance is lacking or empty. Besides being able to top up through BNI channels, now it can also go through Gojek application," Corina added.

The public can top up TapCash balances starting from Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 500,000. In accordance with the regulator provision, the maximum limit for card-based electronic money balances, one of which is TapCash is Rp. 2 million.

Budi Gandasoebrata, the Managing Director of GoPay, explained, “In this very challenging era, GoPay has always been a mainstay of the community by continuing to collaborate with various parties to meet the needs of users, one of which is through collaboration with BNI. This collaboration aims to support non-cash transaction contactless and makes it easier for GoPay users who are also BNI TapCash users to top up TapCash with GoPay through Gojek Application. This collaboration makes TapCash as the first electronic money card that can be topped up with GoPay on Gojek Application. In the future, we will continue to collaborate with various parties, including banks, to provide convenience and freedom to the people of Indonesia in non-cash transactions, especially contactless."

Banks have issued debit cards, credit cards, to electronic money cards that provide more choices and ease of non-cash payment transactions for customers. The use of electronic money cards in Indonesia is increasing along with the implementation of New Normal, where people are encouraged to make non-cash transactions.

One of the advantages of electronic money cards is that people do not need to open a savings account or register as a bank customer to get it. People just need to buy the card and top up on the channel provided.

TapCash is an electronic money card issued by BNI. TapCash card can be used for public transportation payments such as Commuterline, TransJakarta, MRT, LRT, Railink, and Crossing Ships, toll payments and parking, to transactions at various BNI retail stores such as restaurants, theaters and mini markets. Until May 2020, there have been more than 7 Million TapCash Cards spread throughout Indonesia.

Before the collaboration with Gopay, TapCash card can be topped up through BNI channels such as BNI Mobile Banking, BNI SMS Banking, ATM BNI, Agen46, up to e-Commerce and retail shops such as mini markets.
