2.000 Mangrove Plant Seedlings for Bali

Jakarta, Monday (20/2/2023) -- Thousands of mangroves were planted by BNI Asset Management together with BNI as a form of concern for the environment and to build awareness to invest in Mutual Fund products based on environmental conservation.

PT BNI Asset Management (BNI-AM), together with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI, and investors took part in Mangrove Forest Rehabilitation for investor participation in BNI-AM ETF MSCI ESG Leaders Indonesia (XBES) and BNI-AM Mutual Fund Sri Kehati Index in Benoa Bay, Bali on 17 February 2023.

This activity is carried out as a form of concern for environmental preservation and aims to build investor awareness to invest more actively in environmentally sound Mutual Funds.

This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity in the form of planting 2,000 mangrove seedlings was attended by the Board of Directors (BOD), Board of Commissioners (BOC), employees of BNI-AM and BNI Regional and Denpasar Branch Office Officials.

This CSR activity is carried out by cooperating with Mangrove Ranger Bali as an implementing partner who assists in planting, maintaining, and monitoring the progress of mangrove seedlings for the next 3 (three) years.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the company proactively conducts socialization so that the green economy implementation can be carried out gradually and comprehensively by BNI's strategic partners, including by cooperating with the nature lovers community.

"We certainly strongly support all forms of efforts to preserve nature as a form of green banking implementation. We hope this activity can be a spark for many other nature lovers to continue to make positive contributions," he said.

Previously, BNI had collaborated in assisting the Mega Mendung Organic Forest environmentalist community, whose management has reached more than 30 hectares.

BNI has also collaborated with the KJA Foundation to carry out cooperation for environmental rehabilitation programs for the coastal areas of Anyer Beach, Banten and the upper reaches of the Citarum River Watershed, West Java through nursery development program, tree planting and preservation.

In fact, this program cooperation uses a CSR mechanism in the form of 100,000 tree nurseries in the Anyer Beach area, 200,000 tree nurseries in the upstream area of the Citarum River watershed, the cost of planting activities, as well as the cost of tree preservation activities.

To increase our commitment in the green business segment, BNI has issued green bonds worth Rp5 trillion. Surely, the existing green portfolio will be even stronger with BNI's green bond.

On the other hand, BNI-AM always cares about the environment by inviting investors to invest while contributing to biodiversity in 2 (two) Mutual Fund products that are closely related to environmental preservation, namely BNI-AM ETF MSCI ESG Leaders Indonesia (XBES) and BNI-AM Sri Kehati Index.

Both products focus on stocks of issuers that have a good Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) assessment by MSCI International, as well as those included in the Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) index and the Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation (KEHATI). Currently, the total managed funds of the two mutual fund products reach Rp 254.36 billion.

BNI-AM is a pioneer of Financial Services Business Actors in the Capital Market industry registered and supervised by OJK. Pioneered since 23 October 1995 and on 7 July 2011 BNI-AM spun off from BNI Sekuritas as a Limited Liability Company.

Currently, BNI-AM ranks among the top 10 investment managers in Indonesia based on the total amount of Asset Under Management (AUM).
