Through Diaspora Loan, BNI Helps Indonesian Diaspora in Hong Kong to Upgrade

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI solidifies its role as an Agent of Development, not only domestically, but also globally.

Through the Hong Kong Overseas Office (KLN), BNI supports the business growth of the diaspora or Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Hong Kong with various services. As a fully licensed bank, BNI Hong Kong has a superior product Diaspora Loan, which is a BNI loan facility to develop diaspora businesses.

BNI also offers account opening facilities (Diaspora Saving), which is a special savings product from BNI aimed at diasporas around the world.

BNI Hong Kong branch General Manager Farid Faraitody expressed, BNI received a mandate from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) as a global bank. Through Diaspora Loan, BNI facilitates loans to diasporas around the world who are keen to start or develop their businesses, one of which is Lucky Indonesia Restaurant.

“BNI as a global bank wants to play an important role in encouraging the diaspora to expand their business, Lucky Indonesia Restaurant is one that we should encourage the development of,” he said.

Farid explained, Lucky Indonesia Restaurant is a restaurant that serves Indonesian specialties in Hong Kong which has the potential to be developed bigger so that Indonesian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are more widely recognized abroad.

Not only Lucky Indonesia Restaurant, BNI Hong Kong also has several customers who utilize this Diaspora Loan, including three customers who run trading and restaurant businesses.

Easy Ways to Apply for Diaspora Loan

To introduce the Diaspora Loan service product more widely, BNI offers various facilities to customers to get a Diaspora Loan. This program aims to boost the Indonesian economy by helping the diaspora develop Indonesian SMEs overseas.

Diaspora can use the diaspora loan facility for two main purposes, i.e. for operational working capital and further business development.

The credit facilities provided are working capital loans and investment loans. For working capital loans, the maximum loan tenor is 1 year with a credit limit of up to USD1 million. “The collateral can be in Indonesia and personal guarantee,” Farid explained.

As for investment loans, the maximum loan tenor is 15 years with a credit limit of up to USD1.5 million. The collateral is the project being financed.

“Diaspora Loan has many benefits, including a fast application process and competitive interest rates,” Farid concluded.
