Boosting Coffee Farmers’ Productivity, BNI Jelajah Kopi Khatulistiwa is Present in Temanggung

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI consistently runs the Jelajah Kopi Khatulistiwa program. This time, BNI distributed coffee processing tools and machines to the Coffee Farmer Community at LMDH Wana Asri, Kertosari Village, Temanggung, Central Java, Thursday (19/12/2024).

The BNI Jelajah Kopi Khatulistiwa (JKK) program is the company's effort to realize a green economy for export-oriented coffee farmers. BNI provides education, curation, incubation, business matching and the use of banking transaction solutions as a financial ecosystem of people's coffee commodities from upstream to downstream.

This activity was attended by PMO Kopi & Kakao Nusantara of the Ministry of SOEs represented by Deslaknyo Wisnu Hanjagi, local government representatives, BNI Yogyakarta Regional Head Ariyanto Soewondo Geni, representatives from the Coffee and Kakao Research Center (Puslitkoka), representatives of Perhutani, Pupuk Indonesia, and Jamkrindo.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that currently the BNI JKK ecosystem with the largest distribution of coffee People's Business Credit (KUR) is the Temanggung Coffee ecosystem, which amounted to IDR 8.65 billion consisting of 117 debtors.

“Through CSR assistance in the form of coffee processing tools and machines in the BNI JKK program, it is hoped that it can encourage the spirit of productivity of coffee farmers in Temanggung,” he said.

Through the JKK Program in Temanggung, BNI collaborates with the Nusantara Coffee Project Management Office (PMO) of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) which is also part of the Makmur Program in building an ecosystem that prioritizes farmers and fully supports the revival of the national coffee industry.

According to Okki, this CSR program is a tangible manifestation of BNI's concern for the coffee farming community and has been appreciated by the Ministry of SOEs by awarding the Gold Medal in the Creating Shared Value Category at the BUMN Corporate Communication and Sustainability Summit (BCOMMS) 2024.

“The hope is that with the assistance of coffee processing tools and machines, BNI can contribute to increasing the capabilities of farmers in processing coffee so that it can have a higher selling value,” concluded Okki.

For information, BNI Jelajah Kopi Khatulistiwa (JKK) has been running since 2022 and until now has been present in 5 provinces, including Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, Rejang Lebong South Sumatra, Garut West Java, Jember East Java, and Temanggung Central Java. A total of 424 farmers have been helped through the program.
