BNI Becomes the Only Indonesian Bank to Win the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2024

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has again received an award from the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards for three consecutive years for its achievements in delivering sustainability reporting. BNI is the only Indonesian bank to receive the award among other global banks.

BNI Risk Management Director David Pirzada said that this award is an achievement of BNI's commitment to the sustainability aspect in running the banking business.

“This award highlights our commitment to high-quality sustainability reporting and our progress in addressing sustainability challenges,” David said in a press release.

Through the Asia's Best Sustainability Reporting Awards (Public Sector) category, BNI won a bronze award at the prestigious 10th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA), along with two companies from Kazakhstan and Taiwan. The company also received the award in 2022 and 2023 and confirmed BNI's sustainability reporting according to global standards.

Rajesh Chhabara, founder of the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards and Managing Director of CSRWorks, said that he praised BNI's commitment to sustainability reporting and transparent communication to stakeholders.

“By setting a high benchmark for quality disclosure that aligns with global standards, BNI demonstrates leadership in managing sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities with clarity and accountability,” he said.

Rajesh added that sustainability reporting enables companies to assess and communicate their sustainability performance, manage risk, build trust with stakeholders, and align their strategies with global sustainability goals. This can provide a competitive advantage, leading to improved financial performance and increased access to capital.

Winning the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards is a remarkable achievement for a company dedicated to excellence in sustainability reporting. The rigorous multi-tiered evaluation process involves three rounds of judging, selecting the best in each award category, taking into account the company’s reputation among its stakeholders.

The 10th edition of ASRA was participated by leading companies from 13 countries in Asia competing in 17 award categories. For a complete list of finalists and award recipients, please visit www.csrworks.com/asra.
