BNI and VinFast Sign MoU to Accelerate Green Mobility Ecosystem in Indonesia

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI and VinFast, an electric vehicle manufacturer from Vietnam, signed a memorandum of understanding to explore cooperation in promoting green mobility solutions in Indonesia as well as facilitating investment and financial cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the sidelines of the Vietnam-Indonesia high-level business dialogue with the theme "Vietnam-Indonesia: Partnership for Progress and Prosperity" at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Monday (10/3/2025).

This important moment not only marks the significant progress of both institutions in providing financial solutions and advancing the eco-friendly transportation ecosystem across Southeast Asia, but also strengthens the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia.

BNI Wholesale and International Banking Director Agung Prabowo said that BNI is strongly committed to encouraging green initiatives, environmentally friendly solutions, and social responsibility in supporting sustainable development.

"We believe this collaboration will not only open up strategic business opportunities but also strengthen the long-term partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam, and contribute to economic and social prosperity," Agung said in a press release.

Through this MoU, BNI will provide advisory support, experience and local insights, and facilitate access to transactional banking service products for VinFast and other companies in the Vingroup ecosystem. In addition, BNI can also facilitate business partners in supporting VinFast's mission to accelerate green mobility and infrastructure development in Indonesia, while still complying with local regulations and conditions.

VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau said, VinFast is committed to making the transition to electric vehicles as easy and convenient as possible for Indonesian consumers.

"We are honored to partner with BNI, a leading financial institution in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, we aim to create meaningful value for the community and encourage green and sustainable development in Indonesia," he said.

BNI ESG Commitment

One form of BNI's commitment in supporting the Government's NDC target and emission reduction efforts is by setting a Net Zero Operational target in 2028.

BNI also plays a role in strengthening the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem through the construction of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and EV financing programs in collaboration with its subsidiary, BNI Finance.

On the internal side, BNI runs various energy efficiency programs, including the use of energy-saving lamps, utilization of solar panels, efficiency in electricity use by turning off lights during break times, and regulating office room temperatures.

Apart from that, BNI has disbursed financing of IDR 2.3 trillion to support environmentally friendly transportation.
