The Indonesian Men's Doubles Sector's Incredible Struggle in the Indonesia Open 2025 Semifinals

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI expresses its appreciation for the extraordinary struggle of the Indonesian men's doubles sector in the Indonesia Open 2025 semifinal match. The performance of the two Indonesian men's doubles pairs shows high fighting power and tough mentality in the midst of intense competition in this world tournament.

In the first match, the pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Mohammad Reza Pahlevi appeared solid against Malaysian athletes Man Wei Chong / Tee Kai Wun. After winning 21-18 in the first game and losing 12-21 in the second game, Sabar/Reza managed to rise in the third game. Playing calmly and strategically, they won 21-18 and advanced to the final round.

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto pair had to face a tough match against Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae from South Korea at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday (7/6/2025) night of Western Indonesian Time Zone. In this long-duration match, Fajar/Rian showed a tireless struggle even though they eventually lost 18-21, 21-19, 21-23.

"We are proud of the fighting spirit shown by Fajar/Rian. Although they have not managed to step into the final, their struggle reflects sportsmanship and an unyielding spirit that inspires the nation," said BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo in a written statement.

Fajar/Rian were 0-4 down at the start of the first game but managed to level the scores 8-8. After a brief 10-9 lead, they fell behind 9-11 at the interval and continued to chase until the end of the game. The first game was eventually won by the Korean pair 21-18.

In the second game, Fajar/Rian's play improved. Despite falling behind 6-9, they bounced back with four consecutive points and maintained the tempo to win 21-19. Unfortunately, in the deciding game, despite winning 16-13 and reaching match point 20-19, they failed to lock in the victory and lost 21-23.

The struggles of the two men's doubles pairs who played last night were very good, although they only managed to qualify one pair for the final. This is an encouragement for Indonesia to continue to improve coaching and support for its young athletes.

BNI as the official sponsor of PBSI emphasizes its commitment in producing and assisting the development of young talented Indonesian badminton talents to be able to compete at the national and international levels.

“We believe that long-term coaching is the key to the birth of new champions who will make Indonesia proud in the future,” said Okki Rushartomo.
