PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI celebrated its 79th Anniversary on July 5, 2025 with the theme “Accompanying Your Every Step”, reflecting BNI's long journey in accompanying the Indonesian people in every phase of life and changing times.
BNI President Director, Putrama Wahju Setyawan, said that for 79 years, BNI has been present not only as a financial institution, but also as a witness to the struggle of millions of people in achieving their dreams through hard work and courage to face the challenges of the times.
Putrama explained that since its establishment on July 5, 1946, when the country was still struggling to establish a strong government, a patriot of the nation, Margono Djojohadikusumo, came up with a thought that was beyond his time. With the line "This nation needs its own bank." Not just to count money, but to organize self-esteem". The idea was successfully realized through consistent steps, never giving up, and upholding integrity. BNI is a symbol of Indonesia's economic sovereignty to the world. The spirit of struggle continues to live and become the soul of BNI's service until now.
"The struggle comes from various lines. From BNI Hi-Movers such as Security Guards who open the door of hope, Teller who welcomes the enthusiasm of customers, to Customer Service who assists every financial need with empathy and thoroughness," said Putrama.
Not only internally, the spirit of struggle also comes from the customers. There are office workers who save for their first home, housewives who manage their finances with love, and entrepreneurs who fight for the welfare of their employees in the midst of economic uncertainty.

To strengthen the meaning of the theme, BNI presents the number “79” logo which has a deep philosophy. The number 7 is inspired by the beak of the Garuda bird as a symbol of the nation's fighting spirit that grows from mutual cooperation and resilience in facing challenges.
While the number 9 is inspired by the location pin icon on the map, representing BNI's presence and commitment to reach people wherever they are. This visual reflects BNI's efforts to expand equitable and accessible access to financial services.
“The ”79" logo with BNI's distinctive colors is not just a design, but a symbol of loyalty in accompanying every step of the community's struggle. BNI emphasizes its role as a state-owned bank that is resilient, inclusive, and present at every moment of hope and life change," Putrama explained again.
