BNI Strengthens Stunting Reduction Program in East Nusa Tenggara and Banten

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is holding a series of nutrition and health intervention programs as a concrete action to support the acceleration of stunting reduction in two priority areas: Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Banten Province. This commitment aligns with the government's goals and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda to eliminate hunger and all forms of malnutrition.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo emphasized that supporting the reduction of stunting is part of the company's social responsibility to build healthy and excellent Indonesian Human Resources (HR).

"This program aligns with the company's commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the second point, which is Zero Hunger," said Okki in a written statement.

In Nagekeo Regency, NTT, the BNI program focuses on three main interventions. The program includes capacity building for DASHAT (Healthy Kitchen) cadres, providing supplementary feeding (PMT) for 50 stunted children and 25 pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (CED) for 90 days, and establishing nutrition gardens planted with vegetables.

This activity is centered in Mauponggo Sub-Regency, specifically in Jawapogo Village and Mauponggo Village, which are priority areas for stunting management by the Nagekeo Sub-Regency Government in 2024 and 2025.

"Two villages were selected as the main locations: Jawapogo Village and Mauponggo Village, considering the high prevalence of stunting and various public health challenges in the area," explained Okki.

In parallel, BNI is also running a similar program in Banten Province. The support provided was more diverse, including the provision of nutritious food for 200 beneficiaries for six months, the repair of uninhabitable homes, and the construction of toilet facilities. This program in Banten is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Population and Family Planning (Kemendukbangga).

Okki emphasized that BNI's role is crucial in accelerating the reduction of stunting thru direct intervention, community empowerment, and cross-sector collaboration.

With this step, BNI hopes to contribute to accelerating the realization of a stunting-free Indonesia in the future. This kind of collaboration is expected to have a long-term impact on the health and quality of future generations," concluded Okki.

Thru this strategic program, BNI aims to ensure improved nutrition for Indonesian children while also supporting the birth of a healthier and higher-quality generation of future leaders.
