BNI and ITS Promote Digital Education Philanthropy Through ITS Endowment Fund

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI, together with the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), expanded the meaning of sports tourism through the launch of the ITS Endowment Fund program, which was part of a series of activities for the wondr Surabaya ITS Run 2025 on Sunday (2/11/2025). This initiative not only encourages people to exercise, but also contributes directly to the sustainability of higher education in Indonesia through digital donations.

BNI Institutional Director Eko Setyo Nugroho explained that BNI's support for the ITS Endowment Fund is a tangible commitment to developing sustainable educational philanthropy.

“Through wondr by BNI, we are introducing the ITS Endowment Fund donation feature so that alumni and the community can contribute directly from the palm of their hands. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the relationship between BNI and ITS, while expanding the socio-economic impact on Indonesian education,” said Eko.

He added that the ITS Endowment Fund is in line with BNI's vision to promote sustainability in higher education and produce Indonesia's best human resources. This fund has benefited thousands of students, while also supporting improvements in the quality of research, teaching, and campus facilities.

“BNI is committed to being part of ITS's journey in building an inclusive and impactful future for education. We believe that every small step, including digital donations, can bring about big changes for the nation's future generations,” Eko emphasized.

The ITS Endowment Fund is a sustainable program managed by ITS to ensure the continuity of academic activities and the provision of scholarships for outstanding and underprivileged students. Through this initiative, ITS invites alumni, industry partners, and the wider community to play an active role in the development of higher education in Indonesia.

ITS Chancellor Prof. Bambang Pramujati explained that the principal value of the ITS Endowment Fund will never decrease because only the investment returns are used. To date, the program has helped nearly 2,000 students in the form of scholarships, tuition assistance, and other support.

“The ITS Endowment Fund is a form of ITS's commitment to building sustainable, independent, and inclusive higher education. We are also grateful to BNI, which is not only a financial partner, but also bridges the community to donate easily through wondr by BNI. This is a charitable deed whose benefits will continue to flow as long as ITS exists,” said Bambang.

Meanwhile, ITS Deputy Chancellor II and General Secretary of IKA ITS PW East Java Machsus considered the launch of the ITS Endowment Fund as proof that sports, philanthropy, and innovation can go hand in hand in supporting the sustainability of higher education.

"The launch of the ITS Endowment Fund is proof that sports, philanthropy, and innovation can go hand in hand. Every step we take today is not only for our physical health, but also for the sustainability of science," said Machsus.

Through the donation feature in the wondr by BNI app, the public can donate transparently and accountably directly to the ITS Endowment Fund. This innovation opens up broad public participation to help build a better future for national education.

This initiative affirms BNI's role as a strategic partner in strengthening the digital-based education ecosystem, while also demonstrating that synergy between the business world, academia, and the community can create sustainable social change for Indonesia.
