Indonesian women's singles athlete Gregoria Mariska Tunjung has once again recorded a brilliant achievement after reaching the podium for the third consecutive time at the Kumamoto Masters Japan event since 2023. This 2025 achievement further confirms Gregoria's consistent performance, while also demonstrating the success of the athlete development program carried out by the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) with the full support of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo further noted that Gregoria's achievement brings pride to Indonesia and proves that long-term coaching can create world-class athletes.
"Gregoria's achievement once again proves that sustainable athlete development can lead to world-class accomplishments. BNI is proud to be a part of Gregoria's journey and the struggles of other Indonesian athletes," said Okki in a written statement.
Gregoria's runner-up finish at the Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025 is even more special as it marks her third consecutive podium in the last three years. Additionally, this achievement is her first podium on the BWF Tour 2025, showcasing her rising performance momentum this season.
Gregoria's consistency strengthens her position as one of Indonesia's most competitive women's singles players at the moment. This success is a valuable asset for upcoming tournaments, and it further shows the significant progress made by the women's singles sector in recent years.
Gregoria's journey to the elite level of the world was not an instant one. This athlete, born in Wonogiri on August 11, 1999, has shown great talent since his junior years. Her string of achievements includes winning the BWF World Junior Championships 2017, taking silver at the Asian Junior Championships 2016, winning bronze at the SEA Games 2017 and 2021, and her best performance yet, winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
As PBSI's main partner, BNI is committed to continuing to support the development of Indonesian badminton through early age group training, strengthening the National Training Center (Pelatnas), and expanding opportunities for Indonesian athletes to compete in international tournaments.
According to Okki, BNI's support for PBSI is part of the company's commitment to promoting the glory of national sports.
"Gregoria's achievements are a motivation and inspiration for Indonesia's younger generation. BNI will continue to support PBSI so that Indonesia will always have champions now and in the future," he emphasized.
Through consistent collaboration with PBSI, BNI hopes that more Indonesian athletes will be able to compete in elite global competitions and continue to fly the Indonesian flag on the international stage. Gregoria's achievements are a clear example of how hard work, continuous development, and strong ecosystem support may generate world-class athletes.
