"Timur" Officially Premieres, BNI Bringing Fresh Air to National Action Films with Iko Uwais

Hutan Rimba Timur was present throughout the Epicentrum XXI Jakarta area, witnessing the Gala Premiere of Timur, a film by Iko Uwais, fully supported by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI on December 4, 2025.

Attending the premiere were Iko Uwais, Yentonius Jerriel Ho and Nagita Slavina as Executive Producers, Ryan Santoso as Producer and the entire production crew of Uwais Pictures and the entire cast of Film Timur, Deputy Governor of the Special Region of Jakarta Rano Karno, and President Director of BNI Putrama Wahju Setyawan and his staff.

Iko Uwais, who also served as director and lead actor in this movie, said he was proud of this collaboration because it gave him the opportunity to return to work and help revive the national film industry.

“After working abroad for so long, I am proud to be back in Indonesia and finally take a new step as a director,” said Iko Uwais.

This momentum is an important milestone for the national film industry, particularly in its efforts to produce international-class action-emotional works crafted by Indonesian talent.

The movie Timur tells the story of a soldier named Timur and his team who rescue a researcher who has been kidnapped in a dense forest.

Through this movie, Iko, who was inspired by the true story of the Mapenduma incident in 1996, wanted to convey a powerful, emotional story of brotherhood, while also setting a new standard for Indonesian action cinema that combines powerful choreography and storytelling.

“For more than five years, we dreamed of building a production house that could bring international-class action films to the screen. And finally, today we can release Timur together,” continued Iko.

During the event, BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan said that this support is in line with BNI's commitment to encouraging Indonesian talent to continue to advance and penetrate the global market.

Through its support for this film, BNI aims to strengthen the national creative industry ecosystem while providing more opportunities for young filmmakers to create and develop their work.

On this occasion, BNI also introduced a special collaboration by issuing a special edition TapCash card for Timur movie, marked by the handover of a mock-up from BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan and BNI Deputy President Director Alexandra Askandar to Film Timur Executive Producer Nagita Slavina.

“BNI sees movies as a powerful medium for promoting Indonesian works and talents. We hope that this support can have an increasingly positive impact on those involved in the creative industry,” said Putrama.

This collaboration is a tangible manifestation of BNI's role in supporting the development of the Indonesian film industry so that it can continue to grow, innovate, and become increasingly recognized on the international stage.
