BNI Expands Emergency Aid for Disaster Victims in Sumatra

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI expanded its distribution of emergency aid to communities and employees affected by flash floods, landslides, and other natural disasters in various areas of West Sumatra and North Sumatra. This support is part of BNI's efforts, together with the MSME Family, to accelerate disaster management under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo explained that the aid was distributed in stages through the BNI office network and the company's internal community, in line with the assessment of urgent needs in affected areas.

“BNI strives to ensure that assistance can be immediately received by the community and employees in need, while expanding the reach of support to more affected areas,” Okki said in a written statement.

BNI has distributed aid in the form of basic foodstuffs, including 85 tons of rice, 17 tons of sugar, 17,000 liters of cooking oil, and other logistical support. In addition, 284 affected employees also received direct assistance from the company, both in the form of logistics and evacuation support.

Distribution was carried out through collaboration between BNI work units, employee communities, and internal social institutions so that aid could be distributed evenly and quickly received by the affected communities. “Solidarity from all elements of BNI is an important part of accelerating recovery for disaster survivors,” added Okki.

BNI also distributed intensive aid in West Sumatra from November 26 to December 4, 2025. The aid included 55.5 tons of rice, 11.1 tons of sugar, and 11,100 liters of cooking oil, which were distributed to affected areas such as Koto Tangah District, Pauh, Nagari Ulakan, Bukittinggi, Padang Pariaman, Pasaman, and Pesisir Selatan. Three BNI employees affected in this region have also received direct support from the company.

According to Okki, BNI's support did not stop at the initial distribution stage. Field monitoring continued to be carried out to identify additional needs and ensure the smooth delivery of further assistance. “This effort is part of our commitment to be there for the community and employees who need immediate support,” he said.

BNI, together with the MSME family, also ensured that aid distribution is carried out synergistically through coordination with Danantara Indonesia. Through this mechanism, aid delivery can be carried out in a more targeted manner and in accordance with priority needs.

The distribution of aid is projected to continue alongside the recovery process on the field. BNI affirms its commitment to maintaining ongoing support, both for the community and its employees, as part of its role in strengthening social resilience during times of emergency.
