The big family of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), through the BUMN Peduli program "One Heart for Sumatra," moved quickly and worked together to ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid to disaster-affected communities across Sumatra. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) is part of this collective effort by distributing emergency response assistance in a measured manner based on on-the-field needs.
Since the initial emergency response phase, BNI, along with other state-owned enterprises, has been directly involved in supporting the community's basic needs, from food and health logistics to supporting facilities at disaster posts. All aid has been distributed in coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local governments to ensure effective and targeted distribution.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the presence of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the midst of disasters was realized through concrete actions and cross-stakeholder synergy. "The SOE big family is present with one spirit, acting quickly and working together to ensure that aid truly reaches the affected communities. Our focus is ensuring that urgent needs on the ground are met effectively," Okki said.
To date, BNI has distributed emergency response assistance in three main regions in Sumatra, namely North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh.
In North Sumatra, aid was distributed to Medan, Sibolga, Gunung Sitoli, and Padang Sidempuan. The aid included emergency food supplies of 52.5 tons of rice, 9.5 tons of sugar, 10,500 liters of cooking oil, and ready-to-eat meals. BNI also distributes logistical support in the form of blankets, medicine, and internet access to support disaster management coordination.
In the meantime, in West Sumatra, BNI distributed aid to several affected areas, including Padang City, Padang Pariaman Regency, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Pasaman Regency, Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang, and Balingka. The aid provided included 25 tons of rice, 10 tons of sugar, 10,000 liters of cooking oil, instant noodles, canned milk, coffee, and tea, as well as healthcare supplies, hygiene kits, and equipment for public kitchens and evacuation centers.
In Aceh, BNI erected aid posts in North Aceh and Southeast Aceh to coordinate and distribute aid to affected communities. Through these posts, BNI distributed emergency response aid, focusing on providing four clean water tanks, health and trauma healing services, cooking equipment, 30 emergency tents, and educational supplies, including 1,200 elementary, middle, and high school uniforms, for children affected by the disaster.
According to Okki, aid distribution was being carried out in stages and was continuously adjusted to evolving conditions on the ground. "Aid distribution is carried out through intensive coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local governments to truly address community needs and have a direct impact," he said.
Through the BUMN Peduli synergy "One Heart for Sumatra", BNI affirms its commitment to continue being present to accompany the community, not only during the emergency response phase, but also in the ongoing recovery process.
BNI, along with the Big Family of State-Owned Enterprises, will continue to monitor conditions on the ground and adjust the support needed as a manifestation of the role of state-owned enterprises in serving and protecting the community.
