BNI Supports Stunting Management in Pangalengan Through the Healthy Village Program

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) is strengthening its support for improving public health through the Stunting-Free Healthy Village Program in Pangalengan Sub-Regency, Bandung Regency, West Java. The program targets four villages: Sukamanah, Banjarsari, Wanasuka, and Margamukti.

The program, part of BNI Berbagi, is implemented in collaboration with the Pangalengan District Government and the Sukamanah Community Health Center. Through this program, BNI provides nutritional support and health education to vulnerable groups, including children at risk of stunting, pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (CED), and adolescent girls.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the Stunting-Free Healthy Village Program is a manifestation of the company's contribution to supporting the agenda of improving the quality of human resources, particularly through community health and nutrition interventions.

"The Stunting-Free Healthy Village Program demonstrates BNI's contribution to improving public health, particularly for groups vulnerable to nutritional issues. This program is part of BNI's commitment to providing tangible and sustainable benefits to the community," Okki said in a written statement.

In its implementation, BNI provides Supplementary Feeding (PMT) Recovery Packages to 65 children at risk of stunting for 52 consecutive days. Furthermore, the company also distributes Nutrition Packages to 12 pregnant women with Special Economic Conditions (KE) for 60 consecutive days.

The program also includes providing nutrition and iron supplements to 50 adolescent girls as an early prevention measure for stunting. The entire intervention series will be implemented over three months, with regular mentoring and monitoring to ensure its effectiveness.

Okki explained that addressing stunting is a key priority in national development. He believes that stunting prevention needs to be implemented early, as this condition can hinder children's growth and development and have long-term impacts on the quality of human resources.

Bandung Regency was chosen as the program's location due to the ongoing need for strengthening stunting prevention efforts. According to the 2024 SSGI data, the stunting prevalence in Bandung Regency was recorded at 24.1%, higher than the average for West Java Province.

In addition to fulfilling nutritional needs, the Stunting-Free Healthy Village Program is also aimed at increasing community knowledge about family health, strengthening the role of integrated health posts (Posyandu), and encouraging the creation of an environment that supports optimal child growth and development.

BNI believes that successful stunting management requires collaboration across stakeholders, including the government, healthcare workers, businesses, and the community. Therefore, this program is designed with an integrated approach, encompassing health education, family support, and monitoring the condition of beneficiaries.

"Synergy between the business world, government, healthcare workers, and the community is key to creating a healthy and high-quality generation. Based on the spirit of wholehearted service, BNI will continue to expand its contribution to supporting stunting prevention and improving public health as part of a long-term investment in preparing the nation's next generation to excel," said Okki.

BNI emphasizes that developing quality human resources must begin at an early age. Through the BNI Berbagi Program, the company is committed to providing social programs that have a real impact on the community while supporting the national development agenda toward a Golden Indonesia 2045.
