Devin/Faathir Reach Their First BWF Super 300 Final at the Macau Open 2026—A Clear Result of Ongoing Development

The Macau Open 2026 once again serves as a showcase for the development of Indonesia’s young athletes. The young Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Devin Artha Wahyudi and Ali Faathir Rayhan, advanced to their first final at the BWF Super 300 level. This impressive performance marks a significant milestone for the young pair, who have been groomed as part of the national badminton program’s next generation.

This achievement also serves as proof that the athlete development program and the cultivation of a champion’s mindset—which the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has been honing with the full support of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI—are beginning to yield positive results.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that Devin and Faathir’s accomplishment shows the importance of a continuous development process, including providing opportunities to compete in various international tournaments to enrich the experience and strengthen the competitive spirit of young athletes.

“Devin and Faathir’s success in reaching the finals of the Macau Open 2026 shows that long-term investment in developing young athletes is beginning to pay off. The competitive experience they’ve gained at various international events—including facing the world’s best players—is a crucial asset in shaping the character, winning mentality, and playing skills needed to compete at the highest level,” Okki said in a written statement.

The Devin/Faathir pair had previously also been given a valuable opportunity to compete in the Indonesia Open 2026, a prestigious BWF Super 1000-level tournament that is part of a long-term development program aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of young Indonesian athletes at the international level.

Since being paired on the national team, Devin and Faathir have shown promising progress. The pair successfully won the Toyota Thailand International Challenge 2025 and the Odisha Masters 2025 in India. They also reached the semifinals at the wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge I 2025, the wondr by BNI Indonesia Masters II 2025, and the Astana International Challenge 2025 in Kazakhstan.

This series of achievements served as a crucial foundation that propelled the pair all the way to the final of the Macau Open 2026. In the championship match, which will take place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Macau, Devin and Faathir have the opportunity to set a new milestone in their careers while adding to the list of accomplishments by young Indonesian athletes on the international stage.

Okki added that Indonesia has never lacked badminton talent. In his view, what young athletes need are opportunities to develop, sufficient international competition experience, and consistent support from all sports stakeholders.

"Devin and Faathir's achievements demonstrate that the regeneration of Indonesian athletes is progressing well. With continued support and a strong development ecosystem, we are optimistic that more young Indonesian athletes will be able to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and bring honor to the nation on the global stage," said Okki.

As a strategic partner of PBSI, BNI remains committed to supporting sustainable athlete development, from developing young talent to strengthening the national and international competition ecosystem. This support is part of BNI's contribution to developing superior human resources while preserving Indonesia's tradition of sporting excellence.

BNI believes that investing in the development of young athletes is an investment in the nation's future. Through strong collaboration with PBSI, BNI hopes to help produce the next generation of world champions who will continue to lead Indonesia to success on the international badminton stage.
