BNI Implements Measured Corporate Actions; Business Fundamentals Remain Strong

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is continuing its corporate actions as part of the company’s strategic approach to navigating capital market dynamics. These actions are being implemented in a measured manner, taking into account market conditions, the interests of shareholders, and capital adequacy to support sustainable business growth.

This corporate action is being carried out through a share buyback program, which BNI previously announced via a public disclosure in July 2026, with an execution period running until October 26, 2026.

In line with evolving market conditions, BNI continuously evaluates various strategic options, including the possibility of extending the share buyback period, while remaining within the scope for share repurchases as approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS).

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the share buyback is being carried out in a measured manner, while consistently upholding the principles of prudence, good corporate governance, and capital adequacy.

"This move reflects our confidence in BNI’s fundamentals and business prospects, which remain strong. The share buyback is being executed in a measured manner, taking into account market conditions and the company’s capital adequacy, while consistently upholding the principles of prudence and good corporate governance," said Okki in a written statement.

BNI’s business fundamentals are reflected in its performance growth through August 2026. Total assets reached IDR1,434.1 trillion, an increase of 24.8% year-on-year (YoY). Loan disbursements grew by 27.1% YoY to IDR977.2 trillion, while third-party funds (TPF) rose by 29.4% YoY to IDR1,124.7 trillion.

In terms of profitability, BNI recorded net interest income of IDR 28.9 trillion, a 14.3% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Net profit stood at IDR 14.33 trillion, up 6.9% compared to the same period in the previous year.

This performance serves as a foundation for BNI to maintain its growth capacity, while taking into account the interests of shareholders, business development needs, and the company’s capital adequacy.

BNI’s confidence in its business growth prospects is also supported by Indonesia’s solid macroeconomic conditions. This is reflected in an economic growth rate of 5.45% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, the highest level since 2013, excluding the Covid-19 pandemic period.

This achievement is also higher than the average economic growth of G20 countries, which stands at 2.0%. Meanwhile, domestic inflation remains under control at 3.28% year-on-year (YoY) as of September 2026, staying within the target range established by the government and Bank Indonesia.

"BNI consistently maintains a balance between the interests of shareholders and the company’s business development needs. With our strong fundamentals and a supportive macroeconomic environment, we are optimistic about our ability to sustain business growth and deliver lasting value to our shareholders and all stakeholders, all in the spirit of 'Serving Wholeheartedly,'" said Okki.

In line with the direction of state-owned enterprise (SOE) transformation under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia, BNI continues to strengthen its governance, business discipline, and long-term orientation in executing each of the company’s strategic initiatives.

BNI will continue to monitor market developments while maintaining healthy growth, capital adequacy, and the interests of shareholders and all stakeholders.
