BNI Tennis Open 2019 -- Anthony and David Susanto Step Ahead

Jakarta, 19 November 2019 --- The East Java duo, Anthony Susanto and David Agung Susanto both advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles in BNI Tennis Open 2019. Both of them who defended Merah Putih team at Manila SEA Games 2019 were able to defeat their opponents.

Anthony beat Achad Imam with a score of 6-3 6-4. He considered a quite good opponent in terms of technique and defense. But because from the beginning focus and play attack, the opponent was finally able to be pushed and could take the victory.

While David Agung Susanto beat Rindosa Wijaya score 6-3 6-0. He claimed today his performance was better than the first round and quickly adapted to the field, although he did not warm up before.

"Honestly, I haven't played in The Sultan Hotel's field and practiced elsewhere. But that is not the reason, and must quickly be able to control the field and master the game and win 6-3 6-0. In the future, it's important that I play my best, play enjoy but stay focused and not be burdened with the obligation to win because I still have to keep my condition so as not to get injured," David said after the match at The Sultan Hotel tennis court on Tuesday (19/11/2019).

In the men's double number, the two siblings "Susanto" namely Anthony/David were able to defeat the duo Rafli Feby /Rafi Rasendriya without difficulty with the score 6-2 6-2. Admittedly, Rafli/Rafi are junior players and are too easy to be overcome.

"But we still play optimally despite competing against players below us. Tomorrow the game will definitely be tougher and this will be an exercise for both of us to be more focused," Anthony said.

"We should not underestimate the opponent, because it could be suddenly shocking. Just don't be complacent and stay focused on the game when facing your opponent, whoever he is," continued David.

East Java tennis player, Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi (20 years) also stepped into the men's singles quarter-finals in BNI Tennis Open 2019. The fourth seed in the second round, managed to get rid of Sebastian Dacosta from Banten. Rifqi excels straight set over the veteran left-handed player, 6-3 6-1.

"However, now it's like there's no reverse gear. Focus, move forward to SEA Games 2019 in Philippines, early next month,” he said.

In the big-eight match at The Sultan Hotel Jakarta tennis court, Wednesday (11/20), Rifqi again had to be involved in a clash against a player who swung a racket with his left hand, Aditya Hari Sasongko from Bengkulu.

"Optimistic can win again over the left-handed tennis player. Anyway, step on the gas full," said the single young man born in Banjarmasin, January 23, 1999.

The results of the tournament with a total prize of Rp. 250 million also gave a breath of fresh air for national tennis with the success of two young tennis players through the quarter-finals round both male and female. West Java representative, Rifqy Sukma Ramadhan (17) will challenge top seed, Christopher Rungkat from East Java.

While Nauvaldo Jati Agatra (DKI) succeeded in displacing the fifth seed from Bangka Belitung, Ega Uneputty 6-2 7-6 (4). The player who was born on 12 July 2003 will test the toughness of the second seeded player from East Java, David Agung Susanto.

While in women's single, Nazwa Syamsabila (14) managed to slip between eight tennis players in the quarterfinals of the BNI Tennis Open 2019. The West Java representative will face the fifth seed, Suryaningsih (NTB).
