PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has once again shown its commitment to supporting the advancement of national sports, especially badminton. BNI officially accompanies the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) in releasing the Indonesian National Badminton Team which will compete in the prestigious Sudirman Cup 2025 event in Xiamen, China, on April 27 to May 4, 2025.
The Sudirman Cup is one of the most prestigious mixed team tournaments in the world badminton calendar. This tournament is not only a stage to show off the abilities of the world's best athletes, but also an important event for young Indonesian athletes to prove their quality and team cohesion.
The athlete's farewell ceremony was held at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung, Jakarta, on Monday (21/4), attended by the General Chairperson of PP PBSI M. Fadil Imran, Secretary General of PP PBSI Ricky Soebagdja, Deputy General Chairperson 1 Taufik Hidayat, Deputy General Chairperson 3 Armand Darmadji, BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo, and other PBSI management ranks.
Okki said that BNI as the main sponsor of PBSI actively encourages the development and regeneration of athletes through athlete championships in all age groups up to the development of national training athletes.
"This step is in line with BNI's commitment to spur the nation's golden talents to shine on the world stage. This also supports the government's Asta Cita in empowering quality human resources in Indonesia," said Okki in his written statement.
In the Sudirman Cup 2025, Indonesia will compete with strong teams from 16 countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Denmark. The match will be held in a mixed team format, which requires solid cooperation between players from various sectors.
In the meantime, PBSI General Chairman Fadil Imran advised the coaches, players and support team to support each other and give their best for the team so that the players can perform optimally in every match.
"The Sudirman Cup is a team tournament, so cooperation between players and coaches is very important. Let's show that we are a solid team and capable of facing any challenges," he said.
BNI is not only present as a sponsor, but also as a strategic partner in building the Indonesian badminton ecosystem. Through various programs such as wondr by BNI National Circuit to support for other international championships, BNI seeks to create more opportunities for young athletes to develop and be globally competitive.
This support is part of BNI's contribution in supporting the grand vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, where the sports sector has an important role in building the character and competitiveness of Indonesia's young generation.
PBSI also expressed its appreciation for BNI's consistency in accompanying the struggles of Indonesian athletes on the world stage. The synergy between the world of sports and the world of business is expected to be able to produce more proud achievements while inspiring the next generation of the nation.
