BNI Strengthens SOE Digital Communication Through AI Optimization

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI fully supports the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in strengthening its communication function through a Communication Workshop entitled “Communication through Social Media with AI Optimization”.

This activity was held for two days on April 24-25, 2025 at Palm Park Hotel, Surabaya, as part of the SOE strategy to strengthen corporate governance that is increasingly transparent, open, and oriented towards the public interest.

The workshop, which was opened directly by Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs Arya Sinulingga, was attended by 125 participants from various regions, consisting of person in charge (PIC) of communication, SOE influencers, and regional leaders. The majority of participants came from East Java, followed by Jakarta and West Java.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said BNI's active involvement in this activity is part of the company's strategic steps to accelerate communication digitization, both within BNI and throughout BUMN.

“We want to build a more inclusive and accountable communication through digitization, so as to be able to bridge SOE programs with public expectations,” Okki said in a written statement.

On the first day, participants received material from practitioners and experts in communication and technology. One of them was the Spokesperson for the Ministry of SOEs, Putri Viola, who discussed the importance of communication in the era of information disclosure.

There was also AI expert Teuku Gandawan Xasir introducing the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital communication strategies.

On this occasion, Zando Agency CEO and Aico Community Co-Founder Reynaldy Francois led an AI-based content creation session.

Meanwhile, PLN's VP of Communications, Grahita Muhammad, shared his experience of managing an adaptive communications team in the face of technological change.

Enriching the field experience, workshop participants also visited three strategic SOE assets in East Java, namely Surabaya Surya Shipyard, Surabaya SOE House, and PT Petrokimia Gresik on the second day.

This activity provided participants with a hands-on opportunity to practice coverage and content production, while strengthening the narrative of SOEs' real contribution to society.

Okki added, through a transparent and participatory approach, the workshop equipped participants with the skills to build strategic communication, both online and in the field.

“This workshop is also part of the effort to support the national development vision of Asta Cita, which prioritizes transparency and community participation in national development,” Okki concluded.

By strengthening this communication capacity, SOEs are expected to maintain public trust and ensure that their contributions are truly felt by the wider community.
