BNI Invites Smart Employees to Handle Trash

Bekasi, 3 December 2019 --- Environmental pollution due to trash still requires serious attention from various parties. Public awareness in managing trash responsibly can reduce these impacts. Such as plastic trash that cannot be broken down, is often a problem faced by Indonesia and even the world, because it has the potential to pollute and the environment.

Seeing this, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI invites its millennial employees to learn how to manage trash properly through the Trash Wise Academy program. The event, which was held in Bekasi, West Java, is a collaboration between BNI and Trash4Change to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, especially through responsible trash management.

The Corporate Secretary of BNI, Meiliana said, BNI has the BNI Go Green program which aims to increase awareness and responsibility towards social and environment. One implementation of BNI Go Green is by involving its millennial employees in the Trash Wise Academy program.

"In the program, BNI's millennial employees obtain material for responsible and prudent trash management by applying the 3R concept of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Then the trash management system that implements 3R can also suppress or minimize funds spent on operational costs, consumption, and office stationery such as the use of paper for documents that can be digitized in the form of soft copies," said Meiliana.

In general, people tend to dispose of trash more often than reducing trash. Our understanding must change to a new understanding, which is to reduce trash so that the amount of trash collected at the landfill is reduced. In addition, we must also be able to contribute to make changes by sorting trash according to its classification.

BNI's millennial employees also visited trash management sites such as Bantargebang Integrated Trash Management Site (TPST) and Trash4Change’ Material Recovery House in Bekasi area. Not only delivering material in one direction from the speaker, BNI millennial employees learn to manage trash through exciting games and interactive discussions.

"Later BNI's millennial employees who have participated in the program will become Green Champions in their respective divisions. They are tasked with educating friendly lifestyles, one of which is trash management in the environment. The next step, BNI will collect paper trash to be recycled into more valuable value goods," concluded Meiliana.
