Hong Kong, 4 June 2021 -- Ahead of the 75th anniversary, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI received an award from the Indonesian Consul General for Hong Kong and Macau at the Consulate Award 2020event. This award is given because BNI Hong Kong, as one of the company's overseas branch offices, has succeeded in becoming BNI's arm in encouraging exports from Indonesia.
“BNI Hong Kong Branch Office received appreciation for its consistency in supporting the export of Indonesian products to Hong Kong and China. This award was presented by the Indonesian Consul General for Hong Kong and Macau, Mr. Ricky Suhendar at the Consulate Award 2020event held in Hong Kong, on 4 June 2021," said the Treasury and International Director of BNI, Henry Panjaitan in Jakarta, Friday (4 June 2021).
On that occasion, the Consul General, Ricky, said that BNI Hong Kong had given its best efforts in encouraging exports from the country. BNI Hong Kong's role includes providing credit to companies in Hong Kong that have been distributors and buyers of products from Indonesia to be marketed in Hong Kong and in China.
Ricky added that the award to BNI Hong Kong was also given because of the role of BNI Hong Kong in empowering Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Hong Kong and Macau. This empowerment program is the result of BNI's synergy with the Indonesian Consulate General, which is prepared to provide supplies for PMI after the end of their work contract.
Meanwhile, Henry Panjaitan revealed that BNI Hong Kong's activities in encouraging exports, especially exports of MSMEs, are part of BNI's strategy to go global, namely by encouraging Indonesian MSMEs to enter the export market. BNI branch offices abroad are also active in providing financing to the Indonesian diaspora, especially those importing goods from Indonesia.
As an illustration, the owner of Forever Harvest Co Ltd which is engaged in distributors, especially products from Indonesia, Alex Chu was successful because he received an import credit facility of HK$ 2 million from BNI Hong Kong. Alex Chu said that the credit he got was very helpful for the smooth running of his business, because buying goods from Indonesia became easier and cheaper, and the cash flow became smoother.
Alex Chu, who also received the Consulate Award, expressed his commitment to continue importing products from Indonesia and selling them in Hong Kong. "I am ready to help if there are MSMEs of BNI customers who want to try to enter the Hong Kong market," he said. Consulate Award 2020 is the first event that was held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong to give awards to parties who have contributed significantly to the economic relations between Indonesia and Hong Kong.
